Climate

Sunshine is the order of the day in Montrose, which enjoys an average of 245 days of sunny weather each year.  Situated in the Uncompahgre Valley at an elevation of 5,800 feet, Montrose has a semi-arid climate with pleasant summers and mild winters.  Rivers and streams from the surrounding mountain ranges supply water to the drier valleys.
 

Warm Season

The average daytime high temperature from June through early September is 78°F, typically combined with low humidity. Overnight temperatures drop an average of 30 degrees from daytime highs, perfect for pleasant evening and morning activities and a good night's rest.  Afternoon and evening thunderstorms provide the majority of the valley's warm weather precipitation, particularly from late June through early August. 
 

Cold Season

The average daytime temperature from December through February is 46°F. Typically warmer temperatures and lower precipitation in the valleys provide a good incentive to enjoy winter recreation in the mountains during the daytime and return to Montrose for the evening.
