About

The Montrose Farmers' Market is YEAR ROUND be sure and check our calendar for specific dates and events. Come out and visit us Saturdays downtown in Montrose, CO!

The Montrose Farmers' Market (MFM) started in 1978 and is one of the oldest Farmers' Markets in Western Colorado. Montrose is known for its rich agricultural heritage and western hospitality. Ever since President Taft helped fund the first Bureau of Reclamation project in 1909 to build the Gunnison Tunnel and provide vital irrigation water to the Uncompahgre Valley, the area became a vital growing region. This historical event signaled the beginning of a new era in agricultural production. The region has become a major growing belt and home to numerous livestock, dairy, and meat producers in Colorado.

In 2017, after years of serving as the fiscal sponsor, the Valley Food Partnership adopted the Montrose Farmers' Market as a project.

Montrose Farmers' Market supports and promotes local producers, artisans and businesses who operate on the Western Slope of Colorado. Our peak season is from June -September. Visitors can purchase locally made goodies year round, including freshly baked pies, cookies, breads, honey, jams, goats milk soap, garlic, lavender, green house produce, fresh farm eggs, locally produced meats, cheese and hand crafted jewelry. The Market is a gathering place for our community to shop, play and interact with local growers. Shoppers have the opportunity to meet face to face with the producers and learn more about where their food comes from.
