Monday through Thursday in June, July, and August 2022
This summer, follow the Old Spanish Trail Plein Air with Art and Photography at the Museum of the Mountain West, Ute Museum, Fort Uncompahgre, and along the river at a private home. All locations are on the Old Spanish Trail. Each location has water for painting, restrooms, shady areas for lunch or making art in inclement weather. The three museums have a wide variety of living history exhibits and colorful, fascinating displays. You will find plenty of subject material! The private home offers magnificent riverfront scenery with wildflowers, waterfowl, and wildlife. Session leaders are experienced professional artists and photographers and will provide personal instruction and critiquing and help select the perfect location for each group, which is limited to no more than 10 persons. Multiple sessions may be taking place simultaneously at any location on any date.
Sessions take place Monday through Thursday at each location. No weekend sessions (when museums are busy.)
You provide your on art materials.Select dates. Instructor will contact you with instructions for meet up and other information. You provide your own art materials. Suggested you bring head covering, sun screen, extra water for drinking, sack lunch, but spray.
RegistratIon is online ONLY. Tuition is a tax-deductable, non-refundable donation to be split equally between all three 501c3 museums. this is a Fundraiser for the museums. All registration is being handled by Museum of the Mountain West.
An art show and sale will be held during the month of September, with the opening reception hosted by the Museum of the Mountain West, Saturday, Sept. 3rd, from 4:30-7:30. Live music, wagon rides, cash bar, light apps, and Old Spanish Trail presentation by trail-traveling artists Mike Simpson and Lewis Williams.
