Hide tanning has been a rudimentary part of survival throughout human history. The Ute people of Colorado were masters of the craft. Join Ken Smith from the Fort Vasquez Museum for a two-day class to learn the basics of hide tanning. Ken has been tanning hides the traditional way for almost 35 years. He has the privilege of being frequently invited to participate in ceremonies and gatherings with the Blackfeet Nation of Browning, Montana.
